Silwerskerm | 24 – 27 August

This year has seen an excellent showing for Open Window at the Kyknet silwer skerm fees with lectures, students and alumni taking part in various parts of the festival and competitions.  The festival takes place 24 – 27 August 2016 at the Camps Bay hotel in Cape Town.

Commissioned short films

Two of the fifteen short films commissioned was headed by our alumni Oom (PJ Kotze) Die Muse (Frannie van der walt).
Both of these projects involved various of our students throughout the productions. Here are the films with a breakdown of the positions the crew had in the productions.

Existing work.
These films have been chosen to screen at the festival and will take part in the existing works film competition.
Daniel Munro (student film produced during last years third year studies) Daniel Munro (Armand Aucamp) is a mysterious, wealthy young man from the city, who ends up at a road stall in the middle of the barren Tankwa Karoo (semi desert in South Africa).

Future – Primitive Costume Party

On Friday 2nd September 2016 come to OWI in your costume, gather in your tribe, help light the ceremonial bonfire, dance till dawn, and if you like, get photographed in a studio setting and possibly get your character selected to star in Jaco Van der Merwe, Dan Roberts and Adriaan De la Rey’s music video for the Kalahari Orkes.  There will be a live performance and music video shoot with Radio Kalahari Orkes.


Come dressed as one of the following tribes:

Tribe A: Womb of the World

Key words: White | Water Creatures | Water | Spring

Be part of the Bonfire Ritual

Come as individuals or in teams or as giant illuminated puppet.

Marinda Botha is running workshops on how to create and execute giant puppets.
Your friends are all welcome, as long as they too are in costume.

The prize for best dressed, is double tickets for the Francois van Coke show that’s happening @ Arcade Empire on the 14th of October.
